Sourcing Turkish Marble for UAE Projects

Sourcing Turkish Marble for UAE Projects

Choose the sourcing route before the supplier

For a project in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah, the first sourcing decision is not simply which marble to buy. Purchasing available stock from a UAE distributor and sourcing to specification from Turkey involve different preparations. With local stock, investigate whether you can inspect the available batch. With a Turkish supplier, establish production, batch selection, packing, and international transport requirements before comparing offers. Neither route is automatically better for every project.

Treat Turkish marble as a candidate because a particular material fits your design, not because its country of origin guarantees suitability. Check the proposed stone’s appearance, finish, dimensions, and supporting information. A shared commercial name does not establish that different batches will look identical.

Bring the designer, installer, and procurement team’s requirements into one request. A hotel lobby, residential floor, and bathroom wall may have different priorities. A coordinated brief helps suppliers price the same job instead of making different assumptions about what a UAE buyer needs.

Describe the material beyond its trade name

A useful request goes beyond “Turkish beige marble.” State the intended application, whether you need slabs or cut-to-size pieces, dimensions, thickness, finish, and quantity with its unit of measurement. Include edge details, vein direction, matching expectations, and packing requirements where relevant. If alternatives are welcome, explain which characteristics must remain unchanged and ask suppliers to identify substitutions clearly.

Give reference photographs a specific purpose. Does an image illustrate the color family, vein density, or surface finish? Ask for photographs of the proposed batch, including overall views and close-ups, rather than relying solely on showroom images. Visual references are easier to interpret when the buyer explains acceptable variation and the design team’s approval criteria.

You and the supplier may independently arrange physical samples. Agree on what each sample represents, shipment arrangements, and how it will be assessed. This does not imply a built-in MarbleMap sample ordering, tracking, or fulfillment workflow.

Request documents relevant to the application and check their connection to the offered stone. Supplier profiles, portfolios, and certificates are signals to examine, not independent proof of a specific order’s origin, quality, capacity, or delivery.

Unpack the Turkey-to-UAE delivery scope

Do not reduce logistics to a line that says “shipping included.” Identify the collection point, loading location, destination, and final delivery address. Delivery to a Dubai port is not the same scope as delivery to a construction site. Confirm the proposed route and any transshipment with the logistics provider instead of estimating the schedule from geographical distance alone.

An Incoterm provides a reference for allocating delivery responsibilities, but the abbreviation needs a named place or port and the applicable rules edition. Separate who pays a transport cost from where transport risk transfers. A seller paying freight does not necessarily retain risk until the goods reach their destination.

Clarify responsibility for export formalities, main carriage, insurance, destination handling, import clearance, local transport, and unloading. Ask your customs broker to confirm the documents and requirements for the shipment. Discuss packing suitability, crate identification, site access, and the process for reporting damage.

MarbleMap’s Accepted Incoterms field in request creation is a Pro feature. The selection guides suppliers; it does not bind their offers. Read the delivery term in each offer rather than assuming it matches your preference.

Compare equivalent scope, not converted totals alone

Your UAE project budget may be managed in AED, while another Gulf project uses SAR. That does not establish the supplier’s quotation currency or confirm that either currency is supported on the platform. Check the available currency options when preparing the request, identify each offer’s original currency, and separately agree on the payment currency with the supplier.

On MarbleMap, the buyer selects a pricing currency for the request. An approximate EUR equivalent provides a common reference when reviewing offers in different currencies; price sorting and filters use that approximate EUR value. Each offer’s own amount remains visible in its original currency. Conversion rates are indicative rather than live market rates, and the platform conversion rate locks when an offer is accepted. That is not a guarantee of your bank’s exchange rate or transfer costs.

Before interpreting a price difference, check that the material, quantity, packing, and delivery scope match. One offer may include destination transport while another excludes it. Payment milestones, offer validity, and production lead time also belong in the decision.

Lowest-price sorting is not an AI assessment of stone quality, delivery performance, or supplier reliability. Resolve missing scope before treating a converted total as a meaningful comparison.

Turn sealed offers into a clear purchase agreement

Operated by Fusapp OÜ, MarbleMap is a commission-free, sealed-bid B2B request-to-offer marketplace for natural stone. Buyers publish requirements, suppliers submit offers, and buyers evaluate the offers they receive. Suppliers cannot see competing offers, the number of offers, or who submitted them. This supports buyer-led comparison without promising a particular offer count, response time, or saving.

Clarification can begin before an offer. Entitled sellers can start web-chat threads on a request, and buyers can reply to existing threads. Phone and contact details opening after a deal is a separate rule, not a gate for web chat.

Before committing, confirm the specific stone, documents, quantity, shipment, and payment conditions with the supplier. Payments do not pass through MarbleMap, and the platform does not provide escrow. Buyers can start free, with paid Pro and Business plans available; suppliers participate through subscriptions.

You can explore the MarbleMap blog while preparing your brief, then start with MarbleMap . Build your request around a clear specification, named delivery location, and explicit scope so you can evaluate the offers received against the actual needs of your UAE project.
