What is a cookie?
Cookies are small text files saved to your device when you visit the site; they are used to run the site and improve your experience.

Essential and preference cookies are needed to run the site. Analytics and advertising measurement cookies run only if you press “Accept” on the cookie banner; if you reject, they are never loaded.

Advertising measurement and Meta
We promote MarbleMap on Facebook and Instagram. To measure whether those ads work we use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API. Both run only if you have given consent. If you reject, no Meta script is loaded, no _fbp/_fbc cookie is created, and our server sends nothing to Meta.
If you have consented and you submit an enquiry form, our server reports that submission to Meta. The fields sent are: your email address and phone number — never in the clear, only as an irreversible SHA-256 hash; your IP address; your browser user agent; the _fbp/_fbc identifiers; the event name; the event id and the address of the page you submitted from. Your name, the content of your message and the details of your enquiry are not sent to Meta.
The recipient is Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (Ireland) and its group company Meta Platforms, Inc. (USA). Meta also processes this data under its own terms — see the Meta Privacy Policy. Transfers to the USA rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Advertising measurement and OpenAI (ChatGPT)
We also promote MarbleMap on ChatGPT. To measure whether those ads work we use OpenAI's Measurement Pixel. It runs only if you have given consent. If you reject, no OpenAI script is loaded and no __oppref/__obref cookie is created.
The pixel keeps your consent choice in an __oaiq_consent cookie (valid for up to 30 days, per the SDK source read on 29 September 2026) and an oaiq_consent localStorage record (persists until you or your browser clears it). A short-lived __oaiq_domain_probe cookie (about 60 seconds) is for domain verification. The __oppref cookie's 30-day lifetime restarts on every new ad click. These cookies are set on marblemap.co; subdomains such as landing.marblemap.co and portal.marblemap.co can read them too.
If you have consented, the pixel sends OpenAI information such as your IP address, your browser/user-agent, the address of the page you are on, an advertising-click reference (oppref), the cookie identifiers above, a timestamp, and the event name. On this site the pixel reports only a page-view (page_viewed) event; submitting the enquiry form does not send OpenAI a separate report — unlike the Meta Pixel above.
According to OpenAI's documentation, the pixel can automatically detect certain information already on the page (for example an email address you typed into a form), convert it to an irreversible SHA-256 hash, and send that hash for matching (“automatic advanced matching”); this information is sent only as that hash, not in the clear.
The recipient is OpenAI Ireland Limited (Ireland, EU), which acts as an independent controller for your data. Transfers outside the EU/EEA (e.g. to the USA) rely on a valid transfer mechanism, and happen only if you have given consent. Managing cookies
You can withdraw your consent at any time. Use the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer — the click itself withdraws, without waiting for a choice in the reopened banner: your choice is reset; if you had previously consented, OpenAI's measurement pixel (if it had loaded) is told your consent is withdrawn; and any _fbp/_fbc and __oppref/__obref advertising cookies already set are deleted from your browser immediately. The __oaiq_consent cookie and the oaiq_consent localStorage record are deliberately not deleted — they hold the pixel's own record of your refusal. Withdrawal takes effect going forward; it does not affect processing lawfully carried out beforehand.
You can delete or block cookies from your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may affect some parts of the site.
